Awards & Achievements
From 1993 -'94 onwards, Shri K. C. Kuriakose has been bestowed upon with so many distinctions and honors from the bottom of the society to the national and international level. Being an ordinary peasant, living in the outskirts of Palakkad, he has reached the summit of glory with a National Award due to the invention of Cheerakuzhy Young Budding in 2005. Some of the major awards and recognitions are worth mentioning.
National Award
In honor of Karshakasree K.C. Kuriakose's achievement in the field of Young Budding technique, he won the National Grassroots Technological Innovations & Tradition Knowledge Awards instituted by the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) under the Department of Science & Technology of Central Government . The award was handed over by the Hon'ble President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, on the occasion of the Third Award Function organized by the National Innovation Foundation to recognize the outstanding grassroots innovators and traditional knowledge holders held at Ahmedabad, in Gujarat on 5th January 2005.
Karshakasree Award
In honor of Shri K. C. Kuriakose's contributions to the agricultural sector and with a special reference to the development and improvement in the Young Budding technique in rubber, he was awarded the prestigious "Karshakasree" award in 1998, instituted by Malayala Manorama, the largest circulated language daily in India. An eminent panel – the final award judging committee – Dr. M.S .Swaminathan, world famous farm scientist and father of the Indian green revolution, Dr V. Kurian, Chairman, National Dairy Development Board and Mr. P.C Cyriac IAS, Director, Small Scale Industries Board, of the Govt. of Tamilnadu (Former Rubber Board Chairman)– selected Kuriakose for the award. The award was handed over by Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh.
Best Commercial Nursery Award
For the achievement of Cheerakuzhy Group of Nurseries in the field of horticulture and agriculture nursery, we have been selected as the Best Commercial nursery Awards for the year 2015-16 instituted by the Govt. of Kerala. The award was received by Mr. Jose cheerakuzhy, youngest son of Karshakasree K.C Kuriakose on the occasion of State farmer's day at Palakkad in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. PinaraiVijayan and state Agriculture Minister, Mr. V.S Sunilkimar.
International Award
In honor of Karshakasree K.C. Kuriakose's achievement in the field of agriculture nursery and his contributions to the agricultural sector, he was awarded for the Best agriculture nursery in India by Sri Lankan Human Resources Minister Mr D.E.W Gunashekara. The award certificate of Excellencywas delivered by Mr. M.Ramachandran, Director of the Indian Cultural Centre, Sri Lanka. The award was received by Jose Cheerakuzhy on behalf of K C Kuriakose on a function held at Colombo on 14th July 2012. The second international recognition to our nursery came from Vietnam. In an international Rubber conference held at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Mr Jose Cheerakuzhy honored by Dato' Dr. KamarulBaharainBasir, Secretary General, ANRPC for the achievement of cheerakuzhy young bud root trainer technology.
He was again recognized by the Government of Myanmar in an International Rubber Plant Summit held at Yangon, Myanmar in 2013 for the achievements in nursery sector.
